Lord Chris Smith, Chairman of the Environment Agency has called for more action to be taken as climate change meant that ‘flooding’ would be become more commonplace. He added that one in six properties in England and Wales were already at risk.

Flooding can occur anywhere at anytime, caused by rising ground water levels, burst water drains, hillside run-off from sudden rain as well as flooding from rivers and the sea.
